“The data was alarming in terms of incidents that involved social media, text messages, academics, behavior, attendance and parent complaints and concerns for student safety,” Obama Academy Principal Yolanda Colbert said. The data also showed that 90% of students were not using their phones for academic purposes.

Terryaun is a fact-checking intern at PublicSource. He is a Hopewell, Pa, native and a senior at Robert Morris University (RMU), studying for a bachelor's degree in communications with a journalism concentration and a minor in sociology. At RMU, Terryaun works in the Academic Media Center, known as Sentry Media, which is the student-run newsroom. In Sentry Media, he is the news editor for the fall 2022 semester, a writer, an anchor and hosts his own podcast, entitled “Philosophize.” Terryaun is RMU's Class of 2023 president, an orientation leader, a Colonial Ambassador, the vice president of member development for his fraternity (Phi Mu Delta), the diversity, equity and inclusion officer for the Inter-Fraternity Council, a member of the Society for Collegiate Journalists and a member of the Black Student Union. In his downtime, Terryaun likes to journal, work out, watch horror-themed Youtube videos, cook and look for adventures with friends.
